Spectrogram

The spectrogram is displayed in a new window. Make sure to set your display resolution to maximum colors to get the full range of gray scale. The process assumes 256 shades of gray and matches the data to the closest shade. With 16 shades the display is very spotty.

The format tracking, if selected, will perform a series of LPC analysis, using the LPC coefficients in the Spectrogram dialog. The result is then smoothed and displayed over the spectrogram. If the tracking is not desirable, you may change the LPC coefficients for better results. However care must be taken as not to deviate too much from the default values, as spurious formants will be reported.

You can play all, Play Selection and perform FFT/LPC from this window. Default setting will display the amplitude data display on the top of the spectrogram. This can be turned off from the options. Depending on the level of your audio recording, you may have to manipulate the dynamic range of the display to get the best result. The default frequency range is set to 1/2 the sampling rate and can be adjusted.

The exact dimension of the print/PICT size can be set through the Spectrogram dialog. The dimensions are set either in inches or centimeters. The dimensions assume the standard paper size of 8.5" X 11". This is very useful for getting the exact size for your publications without any further processing.

Please refer to the Spectrogram dialog option for setting the parameters.
