Intensity

This is the running average calculation of the square root of the sum of the squares, averaged over given window. The results are converted into dB values and shown on the same screen as the main view, form zero to maximum.

You may choose to calculate the intensity in "Relative" mode as oppose to the "Absolute". In the "Relative" mode, the minimum intensity value is subtracted form the file and all the rest values are reported relative to the minimum. In the "Absolute" mode, the intensity is calculated relative to value zero.

The intensity calculation depends on a the reference value of the data. By default all the references are zero, which is fine for acoustics data channels. However, if you have a multi-channel data with non-acoustics data (DC varying), then you may wish to change the reference value to a more relevant one, which in most cases is not zero.

You can change reference value by tow methods:

If any parameters are changed in the options, the operation must be repeated for the changes to take effect.

Please refer to the Intensity/Smooth Option dialog for setting the parameters.
